Privacy Policy for chiristo.dev

Effective Date: June 27, 2026

At chiristo.dev, your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

  • Name
  • Profile picture
  • Email address (for signup and newsletter subscription)
  • Anonymous session identifiers (Firebase anonymous UID) for users who comment as a guest without signing in
  • Comment content — the text of comments and replies you post on blog posts
  • Comment interactions — likes you place on comments, associated with your user identifier to prevent duplicate interactions

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To send you blog updates, newsletters, or other site-related emails
  • To improve our content and user experience
  • To display your comments and replies on blog posts
  • To track comment likes and prevent duplicate likes per user or guest session
  • To associate guest sessions with comment activity during your visit

3. Data Storage and Security

  • Authenticated users (Google or GitHub sign-in): your name, profile picture, email address, and comment history are stored in Firestore.
  • Guest users: an anonymous session identifier and any comments or replies you post are stored in Firestore. No name, email address, or profile image is collected for guest users.
  • Comment likes are stored against your user identifier (authenticated or anonymous) to prevent duplicate interactions.
  • We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties.

4. Guest Users and Anonymous Comments

  • Users who choose to comment without signing in are assigned a temporary anonymous identifier by Firebase Authentication. No personal information is required or collected.
  • This identifier is used only to associate comments and likes with your session.
  • Anonymous sessions may persist across page refreshes within the same browser but are not linked to any personal identity.
  • If you later sign in with Google or GitHub, your anonymous session may be linked to your account so your existing comments are preserved.
  • You can request deletion of guest-session data by contacting us at chris@chiristo.dev.

5. Newsletter and Unsubscribe

  • You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in each email or by contacting us directly.

6. Your Rights

  • Authenticated users can request deletion of their account and all associated comments by contacting us at chris@chiristo.dev.
  • Guest users can request deletion of comments made during an anonymous session by contacting us with the approximate date and content of the comments.
  • You may also request access to or correction of any data we hold about you.
